I'm not of the opinion that expressing political opinions online is unnecessary or useless. In a world of diminishing democracies with a raging epidemic of misinformation and hate online that can spontaneously trigger riots and slowly and steadily engineer genocides, to shut up and lean back is a luxury that is affordable to the ones who feel that they do not stand to lose.

A few days ago, I came across a podcast episode by Sam Harris and Yuval Noah Harari. The title of the episode was "Defending the Global Order".
If the entire history of humankind was to be compressed into the timespan of a year, nation states wouldn't come into existence until new year's eve. The love for one's nation is not inherent to a human being. It is an emotion that is inculcated through years of social conditioning.
The last 500 years have witnessed more advancements in technology than the 2000 years before it. This period happens to coincide with the rise of capitalism. It is easy to mistake anything good that emerges from a system as a product of it, even though it might have emerged in spite of it.
A dictatorship sounds horrible to people who live in liberal democracies because what's considered dictatorial is so much outside the "normal". Freedom of speech, right to dissent, right to unionize are all enjoyed by people under a democracy..or is it?
A baby who can barely form a sentence picks up god into her/his vocabulary. At an age when the child's critical faculties aren't fully developed, she/he is vulnerable to believe whatever is told. This is a well known and well exploited vulnerability..In India, we have a whole bunch of demons, monster and flying creatures that will abduct the child if she/he doesn't eat well, wander outside after dark, not listen to the parents or plays too much.
